Soly and VDH Solar team up to accelerate nationwide rollout of Soly Brain® for installers
Amsterdam, January 16, 2025 – Energy company Soly and wholesaler VDH Solar have jointly signed a distribution agreement. This allows VDH Solar to offer the energy management system, the Soly Brain, and the associated energy contract to consumers through its installation partners. In this way, several thousand Soly Brains are expected to be installed in the near future.
Open energy management system
Last summer, Soly announced its intention to open its energy management system to the market. "Already more than 3 million homes in the Netherlands have solar panels, installed by thousands of different installers. All these systems generate solar power, but are not smartly controlled. At the moment, they are at the mercy of energy companies that, among other things, impose massive feed-in penalties. We want to change this," says Milan van der Meulen, Co-Founder of Soly.
Smart Control
There is a great deal of uncertainty in the solar panel market, resulting in a sharp decline in demand. Miranda van Nouwen, CEO of VDH Solar: “Solar panel owners have to deal with feed-in costs, sometimes no option for a permanent contract, and a net metering scheme that is about to change. Sometimes they try their luck in the home battery, but this is still too expensive for many people. The Soly Brain, in combination with the dynamic energy contract, can prevent feed-in costs and control products intelligently based on dynamic power rates. In this way, our installation partners can offer more value to the consumer.”
Brand-dependent
The control system can control the inverters of solar panels, home battery, and charging station based on dynamic current rates, but can also ensure that the customer will use more of their own solar energy.
Van der Meulen explains: “We are now compatible with tens of different brands. This means there is a great possibility that the Soly Brain can also be connected to existing systems.”
For the installer
Interested installers can contact VDH Solar. They can purchase the Soly Brain separately. After installation, the end user signs up for a subscription with Soly for €12.99 per month. Additionally, the customer can also choose to sign a dynamic energy contract.
